Getting the right travel plan brand and marketing your message extensively and persistently is essential for a successful travel plan. Every organisation has its own individual culture and it is important that any brand should reflect this.

Some marketing tips

  • Be sensitive about car use.
    For example, "it is not about banning cars, but using them less frequently and choosing a green travel alternative from time to time instead".
  • The message of moderation is often effective. For example, "leaving your car at home one day a week can make a real difference (up to 20% reduction in traffic).
  • It is important to focus on the main benefits to staff such as improved health and reduced travel costs.
  • Finally, humour works very well.

    Putting green travel information on your organisation's website or intranet is an effective way of communicating a positive message to staff. Websites can include a host of motivational information including the health and cost benefits of green travel for staff, testimonials from staff members, maps of on-site facilities and personalised information about the best ways of green travelling to your site.A green travel website is highly recommended
